Participating students will earn experience and learn from some of the top leaders in the Napa Valley! These programs are open to all students in Napa County age 16 and up. Spots available for at risk youth and students with special needs.

NVEF also partners to provide the Fields of Opportunity program which was created, in partnership with Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation and Napa Valley Unified School District to connect high school students with local wine industry mentors to explore rewarding career options in their own backyards. In this program students learn about winemaking, tasting rooms, and viticulture.

The Summer Mentor Program is designed to give Napa County students ages 16+ a look into career paths available in Napa Valley’s key industries: wineries, resorts, restaurants, STEM and the trades. The program is designed in close partnership with key industry leaders who ensure that students are getting authentic, valuable work experience. Students attend weekly workshops to prepare them for their mentorship experience and help them map out their career journey.
The Mentor Program is open to all students age 16 and over who go to school in Napa County, including at risk youth and those with with special needs. Students apply to the program and businesses conduct an interview process to determine which students they will employ for the summer program.
Students will come together to participate in soft skills training workshops prior to and weekly during their mentorship. The goal of these workshops is to help develop essential skills that will enable students to better execute their work in participating businesses. Students will also spend time working at employer sites over an 8 week period. Specific hours are determined by employers.
Yes, participating employers are expected to hire/pay students with the understanding that this is a temporary/seasonal position. It is up to participating employers to determine whether to offer further employment to high-performing students beyond the mentorship period. Wages and payment vary by business/opportunity.
