Long Live Sasha Memorial Scholarship
The family of Sasha Ann Mufich established this Memorial Fund to honor the memory of Sasha, a bright and promising recent high school graduate whose life was tragically cut short due to gun violence. Sasha was enrolled in beauty school and looking forward to starting the next step in her education. This scholarship intends to keep Sasha’s spirit alive by supporting students to reach their educational goals.
This fund not only provides financial assistance for higher education but also serves as a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have on the world.
In remembrance of Sasha Ann, this scholarship fund aims to inspire and empower students by enabling them to pursue their educational dreams and contribute to a safer, more compassionate society.
Eligability
Graduating high school seniors who attend a high school in Napa County.
Award Amount
up to $4,000 for first year of qualifying higher education program.

- Be in good academic standing.
- Must be bi-lingual and able to speak at least two languages fluently.
- Have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0
- Plan to attend a four-year college, junior college, trade school, the culinary institute, and or an accredited program that allows them access to a career in the Hospitality, Food and Beverage Industry
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Hold a part time job during senior year or qualifying internship (5 hours per week of work+ to qualify)
- Demonstrate leadership, be involved in the community, and have extracurricular activities.
- Be a first-generation or second-generation college student or come from a middle-income household.
- 500 word essay: The Future Rising Star Hospitality Professionals Scholarship was created
to honor an exemplary student who works hard in the classroom and outside of the
classroom. How has your outside work in the hospitality industry shaped your desire to
create a career in hospitality? What college program do you think will most help you
succeed in your proposed career path?
• List your employment history (Including family obligations like taking care of younger
siblings), and tell us the name of your employer, dates of employment, how many hours
per week you work and your job title or duties.
• List your top high school-related and community-based activities, including the name of
the activity, the honors/positions/responsibilities held, the dates you were involved and
how many hours per week you participated.
• A copy of your unofficial transcript
• A copy of the page from your FAFSA Student Aid Report or California Dream Act
Student Aid Report showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)- if applicable
• Two letters of recommendation: one academic letter from a teacher, counselor, or
administrator, and a second letter from a coach, mentor or employer

What do we do?
FLAGG members attend small discussion groups which meet on Monday, 6:30-8:00 pm, from October to May of the School Year. Each FLAGG Group has students from ACMS and ACHS, adult mentors, and student leaders, who encourage the sharing of issues and concerns important to their everyday lives, in a safe and non-judgmental environment. At FLAGG meetings, students explore topics of importance to youth: Communication, Relationships, Current Events, Racism, etc. We also discuss topics of Filipino cultural importance: History, Food, Music, Humor, Immigration, Family, etc. Lastly, FLAGG members explore topics of mental health and coping strategies. As Covid restrictions lift, FLAGG hopes to have large group activities, such as Cultural Field Trips, Guest Speakers, Movie Nights, active participation in the Pista Sa Nayon Filipino Festival, and other Filipino culture events.
Why should I join?
The California Healthy Kids Survey shows that Filipinx students experience uncommonly high levels of anxiety, depression, and other wellness issues, without the typical identifiers for these conditions. The trauma of the pandemic, along with local and national events, have added to their anxiety and stress. FLAGG provides support for students dealing with these unique concerns, through the strong bonds of friendship and community which form within each group. FLAGG allows students to openly share their struggles and concerns in an atmosphere of mutual respect trust. The program also fosters cultural, social and personal growth in each member, including opportunities for community service and leadership.
Where do we meet?
During the Covid-19 crisis, FLAGG meetings will be conducted via Zoom, on Mondays, from 6:30-8:00 pm. As safety restrictions lift, FLAGG is working towards in-person discussion meetings, at a time, day and place to be determined by FLAGG Coordinators and student leaders.
Who belongs?
Students who identify as Filipinx from Napa County Middle Schools and High Schools, along with Filipinix adult mentors from the local community, can be members of FLAGG. The opportunity to: (1) make friendships with students from different grade levels, and (2) to develop mentorships with responsible adults is an important and unique aspect of this intergenerational program.
